Last month I conducted the first press check on AdPro Litho’s new 6-color Heidelberg press. This very cool press has environmentally sensitive ink handling, minimized waste, and is remarkably quiet.

In the face of “printing is dying” prognostications, several printers I work with are betting on the future with investments in equipment and facilities.

Their pre-purchase market research must not have yielded proof that printing is dying out!

On the other hand, I just got sad news that a small, high-quality Seattle print shop is closing its doors. A big loss.

No doubt about it, these are tumultuous times in the printing industry. One printer friend surmises that printing companies are the canaries in the economic coal mine—the first to feel the economic downturn and the first to see signs of recovery.

Business is picking up, he reports. I hope his theory is right!
